In the penultimate stage of the Euro ’08 football championship, it’s now down to either Germany – who showed great resilience against Turkey – or Spain – who took Russia by the horns – to prove themselves champions of Europe. We asked around Bandra to find out which team people favour to win the most prized cup in Europe.
“I supported Netherlands initially, but they didn’t advance. I wanted Germany and Russia to reach the finals, where the Russians would upset the Germans. But I guess Spain will do that now.”
“I was supporting Netherlands but since they are out I am going to support Germany. Bastian Schweinsteiger is an outstanding player. He is going to be the player of the tournament.”
Omar Fernandes – captain of Gunners F.C. (Bandra club)
“I’m all for Germany, but I think Spain is going to win the cup this year. Spanish (and Arsenal) midfielder Cesc Fabregas is in top form. He could prove to be vital in Spain lifting the cup.”
Roberto – Manager of Mustangs F.C. (Bandra club)
“I was previously supporting Italy. Now that it’s down to Germany and Spain, I think Spain will win. They outplay their opponents in every game. I don’t like Germany at all.”
