The superhero element, Christopher Nolan’s cred (Memento, Following, The Prestige), the untimely death of Heath Ledger and a very aggressive marketing plan makes The Dark Knight the most talked-about and the most anticipated film of the year. In this film, Batman picks up where he left off in Batman Begins and raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, he sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations that plague the city streets. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to the terrified citizens of Gotham as the Joker. The lucky few critics who’ve watched the film already have praised the film’s ambition, and many have given it a full 5-star rating.
