First things first, if the glasses are going to be so big, then the tables have to be a little further apart or big bags, bums and boys will definitely knock them over. And, the wobbly table we got certainly didn’t help their fate
Lisantro is the latest restaurant to hit the ever changing Carter Road. The name, says owner Lisa, came from the fact that she couldn’t name her restaurant Cilantro, she says, “So I decided to combine my name with it for the next best option.” Hence, Lisantro. The restaurant looks rather high end for Carter Road and the menu at first glance is impressive. They serve mostly European style food with a few oriental dishes throw in for good measure. We tried the Prawn Canapes; prawns in what tasted suspiciously like 1000 Island sauce on bits of bread. It was little sugar and spice but sadly, not so nice. However, the Saffron Chicken and Pepper chicken sizzler were good value for money. The Saffron Chicken should get a special mention for their steamed-to-perfection vegetables on the side. The Pepper chicken sizzler didn’t really compare to other well established sizzler places but at Rs.275, the price is good for the large portion. Their dessert menu may not be very extensive but the Blueberry cheesecake was easily the best we have eaten recently. Creamy and not overly laden with gelatin or sugar – A must try. The restaurant is nicely kitted in wood and neutral colours, with artsy pictures lining the walls. Lisantro, like most restaurants on the Carter Road stretch is pretty standard, but the packaging is good.
