Bandra is a melting pot of cultures from all over India. Luckily for us, that translates into a great mix of cuisines. We asked members of different communities in Bandra to give us their pick the best ‘local’ food.
PARSI FOOD: Snack Shack – Roshan Dabhoiwala says, “Try Snack Shack at Pali Naka. It’s quite popular among the community and a lot of my friends go there. You should definitely try the dhansak, salli boti and lagaano custard. My personal favourite is the salli boti.”
PUNJABI FOOD: Great Punjab – Jyshree Kohli says there are many places that offer Punjabi food but Great Punjab is the winner. She says, “It’s really good, authentic Punjabi food. The kheema and black dal are must-tries. And although the price is a little on the steep side, it’s worth it for the quality of food.”
SOUTH INDIAN FOOD: Vrindavan – Abraham Paulose says, “There are many Udipi joints but Vrindavan offers very authentic South Indian cuisine. It has a lot of variety and the best part is that the food tastes very clean.” He adds, “Try the paneer dishes, they’re value for money.”
GOAN FOOD: Jaihind – Meryl Braganza says, “You get good Goan food at Soul fry, Jai Hind and Candies. But I feel that Jai Hind’s goan dishes are the best. Their ambotik, fish and prawn curry with steamed rice is delicious and their chicken cafreal is to die for.” Apart from Jai Hind, she recommends trying out Candies’ prawn curry and Soul Fry’s fried fish.
GUJRATI FOOD: Annapurna – Aakar Patel says, “The best places for Gujrati food would be Annapurna at Pali and Regal Plus. My favourites and recommendations would be to try the bhakri and thepla. The khakra also is very good.”
SINDHI FOOD: Hukka n Tikka – Hiru Jagwani recommends trying Hukka n Tikka for classic Sindhi cuisine. She says, “The food is tasty and they have a good variety too. Try the Sindhi curry, dal pakwan and nans with coriander.”
