The Circus is in Town

The circus is back in town and this time it’s the International Rambo circus. When someone mentions that the circus is in town the first thing that pops into your head is the grand master with his lions and their tricks, people or clowns walking on stilts, and a bearded lady followed by a strong man… sadly, none of this is in this circus.

Instead you have an adorable dog show, spiderman twins spinning around on wheels and foreigners juggling 5 foot metal frames. Then of course you have the girl who keeps jumping on and off a running horse and an elephant that plays cricket (by the way he broke a spotlight while trying to hit a six).

A new item on their list though was a figure skating duo who skated on an ice patch followed by a trio who danced Bollywood item numbers while ice skating. The rifle shooting tricks were impressive but what I found truly impressive was the girl who tossed plates and bowls onto her head using her foot and knee and balancing them all on her head while riding a mono cycle which was 5 feet tall.

The first hour or so is interesting but the show can get a bit boring with the clowns not doing a good job of keeping you laughing. An interesting fact though was hearing the live band sneak in some Christmas music while some of the acts were performing. So if you’re up for an evening of total time pass then here’s the place to go.

Where: Rambo Circus, Reclamation grounds, When: 3, 6 and 9 pm shows, Cost: Rs 50, 100, 150 and 200.

Jam Room

Bandra is full of musicians and a major problem faced by most (if not all) of them is that there is no place to practice. Well that won’t be a problem anymore as four guys Kashyap Kapoor, Shikhar Yuvraj Manchanda, Jordan Vegas and Caleb Vegas have come together and created a room where bands and artists can come and practice right here in Bandra. “The jam room has been sound proofed so that no matter what time we practice no one gets disturbed. We’ve already got requests  from a lot of bands to come and practice,” adds Shikhar. “Another great thing about this jam room is that when you rent it you get a Tama drum set, amplifiers and mic’s all inclusive and if you don’t have your own equipment you can rent ours,” says Caleb.
